When the scan is complete, you can also see the virtual folder called Recovered Files. Note that this folder was not there on your hard drive initially. This folder is created by HDD Mechanic, and contains files discovered by direct scan of the disk surface.
This separate folder shows up to help you recover files that are otherwise unrecoverable. When the file system is severely damaged, the links in the file system no longer point to actual files. This causes simpler data recovery programs to recover files that contain garbage information. HDD Mechanic comes with a special algorithm that analyzes actual content of the hard disk instead of relying on the broken records in the file system. If this is the case, check Recovered Files for any files you want to recover.
The Recovered Files lists files without their original names; this is because no information from the file system was used. However, the files are sorted by their respective file format, making it easy to locate information you need. You can find files by using the preview option.
