Updated HDD Mechanics Offers Better Data Recovery That's Easier to Use
A comprehensive disk and data recovery solution, HDD Mechanics, gets updated. The new version of this hard drive recovery enables comprehensive recovery mode for dozens new file formats by extending PowerSearch support. In addition, the same types of files can now be previewed in pre-recovery mode. The total number of supported file formats now reaches 230.
HDD Mechanics is a comprehensive hard drive recovery and data recovery tool for Windows. HDD Mechanics gives Windows users the ability to undelete deleted files and folders, recover lost information and repair damaged disks and partitions.
The hard HDD tool supports all versions of FAT and NTFS file systems, and can run under all versions of Windows including the latest Windows Vista, Windows 7, and 2008 Server. HDD Mechanics can repair most types of corrupted disks, can fix inaccessible hard drives, and unformat formatted disks and partitions. All types of storage media are supported including hard drives, external storage devices, memory cards, and flash drives.
HDD Mechanic can be used to undelete files removed from Windows Recycle Bin, recover data missing after a hard drive accident, recover files from a formatted memory card, repartitioned hard drive, or inaccessible disk. The hard drive recovery tool is able to fix severe file system corruption, repair partition tables and MBR records, and restore access to severely damaged, corrupted and inaccessible hard drives.
HDD Mechanics offers basic and comprehensive data recovery modes for FAT and NTFS formatted disks. In basic mode, the tool can recover folders and all types of files. The basic mode, however, is limited to relatively healthy disks that still have a file system (FAT or NTFS) still available. This is not always the case. If a disk is severely damaged, formatted, or repartitioned, the file system no longer exists, and it is not possible to undelete files by conventional means.
If the file system is no longer available on the disk, or if it's damaged severely, the hard drive recovery tool offers comprehensive recovery mode to locate missing information and recover deleted files.
The comprehensive data recovery mode is enabled by PowerSearch, the company's proprietary signature-search algorithm.
PowerSearch scans the entire hard drive in order to locate missing files by matching information it reads from the disk against a database of recognizable file formats.
Naturally, the more formats are recognized, the more types of files can be recovered during the deep scan of corrupted, formatted and inaccessible storage devices. The latest edition of HDD Mechanics adds a number of new file formats to the database, making the total number of recognizable formats 230.
LivePreview, a feature allowing users to preview recoverable files before restoring them, is also updated with additional file formats. LivePreview can now recognize around 230 file formats, a major update from the previously supported 150 types of files.
