Recovering Lost Data with the Recovery Wizard
The Recovery Wizard will open automatically when you launch HDD Mechanic. Click Next to start.
Scanning the Partition for Lost and Deleted Files
On the “Select the disk to scan” step you can select all available system drives and partitions to scan. You may also be asked for the file system of the drive you are scanning.

In cases when you have many small files, scanning might lasts for a long time. In such cases, we recommend to keep the PC running and free from other tasks. Make sure it won’t be turned off by another family member!

When scanning is complete, click Finish to get all the recoverable files in the Explorer-like user-friendly way. HDD Mechanic supports all the usual refinements of Windows Explorer, namely the file search, tree and folder view, back, forward, as well as file properties.
Saving Recovered Files
Most of the file formats can be previewed with the free trial version of HDD Mechanic to let you check your files before paying for the product.
Select several files and folders to recover; then click "Recover" to start the export procedure. This will launch the "Export Wizard" where you should select the place to save the recovered files to. After that, click Next. Here you can select any local or remote drive available for writing in your OS.
Make sure you are not trying to export the files to the same partition!
The last step of the Recovery Wizard shows a confirmation window with a direct link to the folder with the recovered files. Click this link to access your recovered data.
